When/why was Robot Madness Day started?

The first annual "Robot Madness" open house was held on June 1st, 2000 at a High School in Central New Jersey. The purpose of the event was to show school officials, parents, and the community what the Electronics classes had learned during the past year. Since then, Robot Madness Day has grown and attracted larger crowds each year, but has remained close to its roots, where students show what they have done with robotics. The main goal is to have fun, but learning is never discouraged.
